My friends often comment that I find unique things and have cool stuff—from my clothing to my gadgets. I also tend to do a lot of research and try things out until I find stuff I absolutely love.
As you know, I’m on a mission to help you 'Charis Your Life'…which means I truly want you to cherish ALL aspects of your life.
So today, I’m sharing some cool things that make my life more enjoyable, especially during the fall and winter.
You can also listen to me talk about my favorite things for this fall and winter in podcast episode #027 here.

- SunnyBay Microwaveable Heating Pads
Medium for upper back & shoulders
As soon as I wake up, I go into the kitchen and heat up a SunnyBay microwaveable heating pad for my neck and upper back. It not only feels cozy and warm, it really helps lessen muscle tension I tend to carry in my neck and upper back, and it’s comfortable to wear as I putter around in the kitchen, getting my coffee or hot water with lemon and making myself a little breakfast. There are a few different shapes I like.
Large for upper back & shoulders
The one I just mentioned that is made for shoulders and upper back comes in a few sizes—the medium size fits me, and the large size fits my husband, Don.
There’s also a large low-back wrap that I’ll use if I’m really cold or sometimes have some low-back tightness.
And then there’s a long neck wrap that is awesome. I find the long neck wrap too heavy to wear while puttering around, yet I love it while watching TV or resting. I get up a few hours before Don, and on days he goes to the office, we’ll have our two long neck wraps ready to go in the microwave so that once he wakes up, we heat them up while he drinks his morning shake, and then we go lay down and snuggle with our dog, Heidi, while we enjoy our heated neck wraps. The wrap also helps further relax my neck.
All of these heating pads have soft fleece on the outside and are filled with flax seeds. We seriously use some combination of these every single day, especially this time of year. They range from $19.99 - $39.99 on Amazon.
Something else that helps my back and neck is if I switch up where I work on my computer. So sometimes I work on my desktop computer in my office, and then sometimes on my laptop in different locations around my house. I generally find things that look nice, provide comfort, and are useful. When I’m on my computer, I use a lap desk that is small and comfortable and looks nice sitting in our living room. I found a lap desk I loved earlier this year and used it almost daily.
There are a few color options that range from $34.99 to $39.99 on Amazon, depending on which color you get.
Let’s return to my morning routine so I can share my favorite kitchen gadget with you! I have an electric milk frother that works as a milk steamer or a foam maker. It rocks! It works better than a handheld battery-powered frother, and I love that I can just pour some milk in it and then press a button, and it will be ready in a few minutes. You can set it to make hot airy foam, hot dense foam, cold milk froth, and warm or steamed milk. The thick foam setting is my favorite for adding milk to my coffee.
Another favorite is our Green Pans (and they come in a variety of colors and styles). These are healthy ceramic nonstick pans free of lead, cadmium, PFAS, and PFOA (aka the “Forever Chemicals”). They don’t emit toxic fumes. They cook evenly and are super easy to clean. When we rented a house a few hours away on the coast over the summer, we even took one of them with us because that’s how much we love them!
Prices range depending on the style and size of the pan.
Up next is my favorite holiday gadget because it makes our indoor holiday decorations magically turn on and off. We usually put up three Christmas trees, a few brown wire reindeer covered in lights, a white wire goose, and two baby goslings covered in lights. I put our trees and the lighted animals on indoor digital timers.
This timer is $12.99 on Amazon. It would also work well for lamps.
If you or someone you know has allergy issues, this next gadget is AMAZING! My Dad got this for me, one of my treasured possessions, because it increases my quality of life and keeps me healthier. I even travel with it. It is the Naväge Nose Cleaner. It’s like a neti pot but so much easier and cleaner to use because you get to stand upright to use it. It’s battery-powered with suction to flush out mucus and germs. It helps me breathe easier, sleep better, snore less (which Don appreciates!), and overall helps me stay healthier.
I have a special link for you that will save $20 on one if you order one by December 5, 2022. That would drop the price down to $79.99, which includes the device and 20 SaltPod capsules. You use one SaltPod each time you rinse, so that is something you’ll need to reorder in the future.
This next item is a luxury gadget. Initially, I wasn’t sure if it would live up to the hype and be worth its higher price tag. But I can now tell you that it is incredible! It’s the Dyson Supersonic Hair Dryer. I had been curious about it for a few years, and then last year, I got one as a gift, and I love it! It does help prevent extreme heat damage because the air temperature is kept under control while being measured 20 times every second. It does dry my hair super fast—and I have thick hair—it is shocking how much faster it is than a normal hairdryer.
The Dyson dryer is a really nice gift, and there are a few color options. Mine is a beautiful combo of nickel and copper. These are $429.99 through Dyson.
My last share for this edition of My Favorite Things is a clothing line called 32 Degrees. Don and I have been getting their clothes for a few years now, and I was happy to see Oprah include them on her Favorite Things list last year.
Base Layer Crew Long-Sleeve Shirt
In the fall and winter, I practically live in the 32 degrees Base Layer Crew long-sleeve shirts. They are 90% Polyester and 10% Spandex with a 4-way stretch. They’re fitted and meant to be worn under sweaters and sweatshirts, yet they are thick enough that I will wear one by itself, especially to yoga or the gym during colder weather.
Don lives in their Cool Classic Polo shirts. They are slim-fit short-sleeve shirts with two buttons and a collar. They are a really soft blend of 90% Polyester and 10% Spandex with a 4-way stretch. They are lightweight, breathable, quick dry, anti-odor, and also have a tag-free label. They come in a bunch of different colors.
Our favorite pants, especially for around the house this time of year, are their Tech Fleece Joggers. They are soft and warm. They aren’t too lightweight or heavyweight—they’re just right. And they stretch without bagging at the knees. They have a drawstring waist, 95% Polyester, and 5% Spandex, and they wash really well.
I hope that if you decide to try out any of my favorite things, they will help you enjoy your life even more during the fall and winter. Contact me on social media and let me know how you like it. I’m @charisyourlife on all social channels.
